Baasbari Farms is the perfect place to soak in the sights and sounds of nature away from the maddening crowd of Darjeeling. It`s an ancestral property turned into a forest farm stay with the best of everything. Walk around the property, read a book on the deck or simply enjoy the surroundings. I was travelling solo for my birthday eve and stayed thee for the night. I had booked a bamboo unit which has a neat room, bathroom with amazing facilities like a refrigerator, tea maker and the best view to wake up to. I enjoyed local sumptuous Nepali meal. Thanks to Govind Bhaiya for checking if i needed anything. The owner stayed at the property for the night because I was the only guest that night. That was really sweet of them.Thank you for showing me around the town and helping me with my conveyance. My stay was comfortable and memorable.

I visited Baasbari farm first in Dec 2016 while the construction work was being completed. I liked the natural architecture and setting of the place so much that I took four colleagues again in April 2017 for a trip to Sandakpur.

Why did I choose Baasbari? Well, its location stands out. Darjeeling is crowded, therefore staying the nights at Baasbari allowed us to avoid the noisy town and its pollution. Its only a 40-minute drive to Darjeeling, spending the day in town and returning in the evenings was getting the best of both. The farm 40-minutes drive from Manebhanjyong ( Nepal border), and lies on the route to Sandakphu. We were driven on a Land Rover (1956 Series 1) to Sandhakphu. Now that`s a real vintage drive! One of the unlikeliest and best expereinces to be received on a vintage car by the farm.

From Sandakphu one can trek through Singalila National Park into Sikkim or trek into Nepal to see some of the red panda territory like we did. Definately would like to recommend this place for a family vacation or a coporate retreat. Baasbari farm is a perfect blend of art, architecture and nature. When you add adventure trekking and vintage drive to your itinerary, it becomes a surreal and unique expereince offered nowhere else.

It was impromptu decision when we headed to Baasbari farm with my friends.

Welcomed by a hot cup of Darjeeling tea we headed to our bamboo cottageĀ .The architecture of it left us spellbound. Chic rooms with amenities beyond expectations, that too local was the difference.

The food being simple, organic and delicious made us overeat. The barbeque evening with some local brew besides the bonfire and endless conversation was a perfect combination for a nippy winter evening.

Sipping my morning tea in the balcony, overlooking the far away hills; listening to the morning music of the birds and the river was like a dream come true. Walking in the ten acres farm was an enriching experience.

The only feeling I had during my stay was that I could live there forever.
