This will be a contemplative walk to rediscover your soul. The morning starts with fresh farm juice, followed by a light stroll along the trail with our in-house guide. You will be able to drink in the beauty and tranquility of nature. The walk ends with a ginger/lemon tea .

tea tasting

Tea Tasting is refined art by professional tea tasters. The flavors narrate a story about its creation. Guests will get a glimpse of tea processing, and sense of tea tasting procedures and etiquette of drinking good Darjeeling tea…

 Most of Darjeeling’s tea gardens are turning organic and Chongtong Tea Estate, about 4 km from Baasbari, is a sprawling garden by the Himalayas that prides itself on its organic and bio-dynamic processes.  You will be driven to the tea garden after breakfast.  You catch a glimpse of tea processing and get to taste various teas produced in the region. Tea will be served in a nice setting overlooking the valley and Darjeeling region.

trekking routes from Bijanbari (Day Hikes):

  • baasbari Farms to Kolbung / Majhitar and back

This hike will take about 5-6 hours. The route is an uphill climb with an approx. ascent of 800 meters through natural forests, agricultural fields, and farmlands. The view from the top of the hill overlooks Darjeeling town on your right and the Himalayan ranges (Mt. Kanchanjunga, the third highest peak is visible) to the north.

  • baasbari farm to Relling via powerhouse and back

This hike will take about 4-5 hours. You will walk the undulating path till the powerhouse by the river from where you will ascent of about 600 meters to Relling bazar. The view of natural forests, tea gardens, and Darjeeling town are visible during much of the hike.

  • baasbari farm to Darjeeling via Singtam Tea Estate

This day hike takes about 5-6 hours. The route mainly runs through tea gardens, natural forests, valleys and gorges. You will climb about 1300 meters during the hike.

other trekking routes

  • Singhalila National Park is a popular trekking destination. The trek starts from Manebhanjyang in the Indo-Nepal border till you reach Sandakphu and Phalut. The Himalayan ranges and Mt. Kanchanjunga can be visible for much of the trek and glimpses of the Nepal Himalayas (Everest and Makalu) can be breathtaking from Sandakphu and Phalut. The park can be accessed from Rimbik, where many trekkers finish up of from Bijanbari with one extra day of walking.

Freewheeling through fascinating villages, tea gardens, terraced rice fields, winding rivers, and rugged mountain trails with the majestic Himalayan peaks at the backdrop makes biking an inspirational activity…

We have explored a number of biking routes around Baasbari. You can hire and rent bikes and pedal around the villages or go on guided bike tours around the valley.  Biking enthusiast can also do some rugged trails from Baasbari to Jorethang (16 km), which is an undulating off-road track through tea gardens.
